The Owners
Backstage is owned and managed by two brothers,

Serge & Mischa van Dalsen

Both Brothers  work behind the bar and also serve as
hosts  when ever Backstage is open.

Serge takes care of the daily management of the bar and personnel and makes sure our crew takes good care of you, the beer keeps flowing and everybody has a good time.

Mischa takes care of technical stuff and makes sure the music keeps blasting, the lights keep flashing and the party keeps going.
He also does the graphic-design of posters, flyers, programs and websites.

Mischa is the contact and planner for all Dj's, bands and events that are booked at Backstage and is also serving as a DJ him self on a regular basis.
Together Sergeand Mischa decide about what parties, bands and different types of music will be programmed.

Before starting Backstage in Feb.1996, they both worked for about  5 years at one of Maastricht's hottest bars called BANANAS, which closed down in the summer of '96.
This was the first place in Maastricht in the early '90s to play new styles of music like Grunge - House -Techno - Acid - World Music - Hip-Hop and even Hardcore Punk.
Both Brothers played in bands and have been crazy about music ever since they were kids.

THE WONDER YEARS
As Kids Serge and Mischa grew-up on a Horse-farm and riding-school "HOEVE DE STER" just outside of Maastricht, where thier Mom gave riding lessons and organised  Summer-camps and over the last 10 years she has been working as a horse trainer in the U.S.
Their Dad was an Actor in Holland & Belgium in the '70's, who studied at the Toneel Academie Maastricht and later  worked as a location director in the region for many Tv-series and also as a News Correspondent for the National News (NOS-Journaal).

Before getting in to the Bar Bizz, Mischa spend some time in the U.S.A. working as a Youth and Activity Counsellour in several Summer-Camps in Pensilvania and Oregon, Where he was teaching Horsback-riding and animal-Care, organising Over-Night Outdoor Trips and where he also was Safety and Shooting instructor at  the Camps Shooting-Range.
